In a bleary-eyed misplacement.
The wraught iron beat the cold
Hard into the bone,
While the red LED
Told the time backwards too quickly
(Give or take 16 minutes
For my eyes to catch up)
Spontaneous flash of insanity
Tells me
To fireman-drop-it
Down the drain pipe
(whitewash black gloss house)
And peg it through the half-light
Where the midnight air
Can team up with the mismatched tarmac
(I hear it’s bad for the knees, you know)
To teach me a thing or two about reality.
